Before digging into that sushi and sashimi you've been craving, you might want to double check for unpleasant surprises. Believe it or not, parasites could be hiding inside your sushi roll! Enter: Anisakiasis disease.
A recent study led by the University of Washington revealed a shocking increase of parasitic worms in the types of seafood that are commonly consumed raw or undercooked, raising concerns for sushi lovers worldwide. According to the study, these ‘sushi parasites’ have increased 283-fold in the past 40 years.
