The 2001 edition of the Grammys was dominated by Alejandro Sanz. The Spanish singer won four awards in total, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year, with El Alma Al Aire.

Alejandro Sanz was the big winner in the 2002 Latin Grammys yet again, taking home three awards in total. Vicente Fernández was named Person of the Year.

The year 2003 was a huge success for Juanes. The Colombian musician won four Latin Grammy awards, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year.

Carlos Santana was Person of the Year in 2004. As for the big winner that year, it was Alejandro Sanz again! He won four Latin Grammys with his album (and song) ‘No Es Lo Mismo.’

Alejandro Sanz still managed to win two awards in 2005, but so did Brazilian musician Ivan Lins. Mexican singer José José was named Person of the Year.

2006 -

Colombian superstar Shakira burst onto the scene at the 2006 edition of the Latin Grammy Awards, taking four gramophone statuettes home. The tune ‘La Tortura’ featuring Alejandro Sanz was huge that year.

2007 -

Juan Luis Guerra will never forget the 2007 Grammy Awards ceremony. The Dominican singer won a whopping five awards that night!

2008 -

Gloria Estefan was named Person of the Year at the 2008 edition of the Latin Grammys. The big winner was Juanes, who went home with an armful of awards (five, to be exact!).

2009 -

November 5, 2009, was a night to remember for Calle 13. The Puerto Rican band won five Latin Grammy Awards.

2010 -

Unlike previous editions, the 2010 Latin Grammys didn’t have one big winner. Instead, it had three: Camila, Juan Luis Guerra, and Gustavo Cerati, who all won three awards each. Spanish opera singer Plácido Domingo was honored as Person of the Year.

2011 -

The 2011 Latin Grammys were completely dominated by 2009's big winners: Calle 13. This time, Residente, Visitante, and iLe won a record-breaking nine awards in total!

2012 -

The Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy were the big winners of the 2012 Latin Grammys, with four awards. Brazilian singer-songwriter Caetano Veloso was named Person of the Year.

2013 -

In 2013, we saw Colombian singer Carlos Vives taking three Latin Grammy awards home. This included Song of the Year with Volví a Nacer. Puerto Rican singer Draco Rosa won Album of the Year with ‘Vida.’

At the 2014 Latin Grammys, Enrique Iglesias, Descemer Bueno, and Gente de Zona won three awards for their hit single ‘Bailando.' Jorge Drexler won Record of the Year and Singer-songwriter Album.

In 2015, there was one big winner at the Latin Grammys. Mexican singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade took five gramophone statuettes home. Brazilian veteran singer Roberto Carlos was named Person of the Year.

Marc Anthony was Person of the Year at the 2016 edition of the Latin Grammys. As for the big winners, we had Carlos Vives and Shakira, with two awards each.

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee were the big winners of the 2017 Latin Grammys with their international hit ‘Despacito.’ They won four awards each. Alejandro Sanz, who had been a top winner in previous editions of the Latin Grammys, was named Person of the Year in 2017.

Uruguayan musician Jorge Drexler was the big winner of the 2018 Latin Grammys, with three awards. Colombian singer Karol G won Best New Artist.

In 2019, we had three music artists with three Latin Grammys each. They were Alejandro Sanz, Rosalía, and El Guincho. Juanes, who won numerous awards in previous editions of the Latin Grammys, was named Person of the Year.

The latest edition of the Latin Grammys was marked by a number of top winners. In total, six music artists won three awards each. They were Shakira, Karol G, Santiago Alvarado, Natalia Lafourcade, Bizarrap, and Edgar Barrera.

The music artist with the most nominations for the 2024 edition of the Latin Grammys is Edgar Barrera, with nine in total.
