In 2014, Elizabeth Holmes looked to have revolutionized blood testing by developing methods that needed only very small volumes of blood. Forbes also named her the youngest and wealthiest self-made female billionaire in the US thanks to her blood-testing company, Theranos.

However, it was all a fraud, and prosecutors alleged that Holmes made misleading statements about Theranos's capabilities. In November 2022 she was sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison, which was later reduced to nine years.

The Canadian rapper was convicted in the Los Angeles County Superior Court of three felony charges related to shooting fellow musician Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. In 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Former cast member of the reality television series 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,' Jen Shah was charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud in March 2021. She was sentenced to serve six and half years.

A former member of South Korean-Chinese boy band Exo, Wu was also active as a solo artist and actor in China. In 2021, after rape allegations emerged on Chinese social media, Wu was investigated by the Chinese authorities. The following year, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison for forcing three intoxicated women to have sex with him.

Best known for playing Steven Hyde on 'That '70s Show,' Danny Masterson later focused on his side career as a DJ and co-starred on the Netflix sitcom 'The Ranch.'

In 2017, the Los Angeles Police Department began a sexual assault investigation into Masterson after three women came forward with allegations against him. Between 2001 and 2003, according to the allegations, Masterson sexually assaulted the women in his Hollywood home. In September 2023, he was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.

A former spokesperson for Subway, Fogle first made headlines in 1999 when he lost 245 lb (111 kg) while exclusively eating at the sandwich franchise. However, things took a dark turn when Fogle was accused of having inappropriate relationships with minors in 2007. But it was only in 2015 when the FBI uncovered that he received child pornography from an associate. He was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison that same year.

Best known for playing Officer Julien Lowe on the FX police drama 'The Shield,' Michael Jace fatally shot his wife, April Jace, in front of their two children in 2014. In 2016, a jury convicted him of second-degree murder, and he was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison.

Joe Exotic -

Joe Exotic became famous thanks to the massively popular 2020 Netflix documentary series 'Tiger King.' In 2019, Exotic was convicted and sentenced to 22 years in prison on 17 federal charges of animal abuse and two counts of attempted murder for hire for the plot to kill Carole Baskin, a big-cat activist he considered his nemesis.

Julie and Todd Chrisley -

Real estate tycoons and reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to 12 and 7 years in federal prison, respectively, following their tax fraud convictions. They were found guilty in June 2022 of 12 counts, including wire fraud and conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Josh Duggar -

The oldest child of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, who became famous for their extremely large family of 19 children, Josh Duggar was featured on the TLC reality show '19 Kids and Counting.' In 2021, Duggar was arrested by US Marshals on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison in 2022.

Harvey Weinstein -

Cofounder of the movie company Miramax, Weinstein produced countless critically acclaimed hit films during the '90s and '00s. However, after years of rumors, the New York Times published an investigation into Weinstein featuring the accounts of over a dozen women accusing the producer of sexual harassment and abuse.

In May 2018, the New York district attorney's office charged Weinstein with "rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse, and sexual misconduct for incidents involving two separate women." Weinstein was found guilty and sentenced to 23 years in jail. He was subsequently tried in Los Angeles for more crimes and sentenced to an additional 16 years.

Amy Locane -

Best known for her role in John Waters' musical comedy 'Cry-Baby' (1990), Locane later retired from acting to raise her family. In September 2020, she began serving an eight-year sentence for a fatal DUI car crash that occurred in 2010. She had previously been sentenced to three years in prison, of which she served two and a half, and was re-sentenced due to the leniency of the original sentence.

One of the biggest names in Major League Baseball during the '80s, Hall played 13 seasons in total and retired with 134 home runs. In 2009, he was sentenced to 45 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault against minors.

Ryan Grantham -

Ryan Grantham was a young Canadian actor whose career ended after a horrible crime. On March 31, 2020, Grantham fatally shot his own mother. He then loaded up his car with guns and ammunition, with a plan to kill Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He ultimately changed his mind and considered carrying out a mass shooting at his alma mater, Simon Fraser University, before deciding to turn himself in. Grantham was given a lifelong prison sentence with the possibility of parole after 14 years.

Sometimes called the King of R&B, allegations of sexual abuse of minors had followed Kelly for most of his career, but for a long time, he escaped accountability.

Kidd Creole is a founding member of hip-hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. In August 2017, Glover stabbed a homeless man to death in an altercation in New York City. In May 2022, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for manslaughter.

Mainly prominent in the '80s and early '90s, the professional skateboarder's career ended when he pled guilty to assaulting, raping, and murdering Jessica Bergsten in 1991. For those crimes, Rogowski received a sentence of 31 years to life.

Gary Glitter, or Paul Gadd, was a popular British glam rock star of the '70s and '80s. However, his career ended after he was convicted of downloading child pornography in 1999. Glitter was found guilty and sentenced to 16 years in jail.

After Netflix launched 'Cheer' in early 2020, the biggest star of the reality show about the elite cheerleading squad at Navarro College was Jerry Harris. Then in September 2020, teenage twins filed a suit alleging that Harris texted them sexual messages. In 2022, Harris pleaded guilty to charges of child sexual abuse images and traveling for illicit sex with minors. He was sentenced to 12 years in a federal prison.

Ian Watkins was the lead singer and front man of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. His career ended in 2013 after he was sentenced to 29 years in prison for multiple sex offenses, including the sexual assault of young children and infants.

In 2013, actress Shannon Guess Richardson, known for her role in 'The Walking Dead,' pleaded guilty to sending ricin-laced letters to Barack Obama and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, while attempting to frame her husband. The following year, she was convicted and sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Darren Sharper's fall from grace was a shock to many football fans. In 2014, the former NFL player pleaded guilty to charges of drugging and raping women and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
