Trump pauses all federal grants and loan disbursements
This will apply to immigration, DEI, and environmental policies, among others
© Getty Images
The White House Budget Office has paused all federal grants and loans, halting public programs used by millions of Americans and potentially impacting trillions in government spending.
Coming into effect on the evening of January 28, Acting Director of the Budget Office Matthew Vaeth has outlined the details of the latest executive order and stated that the pause will include, but is not limited to, “financial assistance for foreign aid, nongovernmental organizations, DEI, woke gender ideology, and the green new deal.” He went on to say that the pause would give the administration time to review and determine the best uses of the funding for programs consistent with “the President’s priorities.”
Agencies must submit “detailed information on any programs, projects or activities subject to this pause” by February 10. However, Vaeth clarified that this does not include “assistance provided directly to individuals” and will not affect Social Security or Medicare benefits.
The pause is the latest in a series of controversial executive orders that have been issued by President Trump as he starts his second term and enforces his promised agenda. Curious to know more about the executive orders issued by the returning American president? Click on to find out.
