Who was Person of the Year the year you were born?
The Persons of Year between 1950 and 2005
LIFESTYLE History
Each year, Time magazine names one person or group of people as Person of the Year, putting them within the cover's signature red borders. The distinction isn't an honor or endorsement, but rather the recognition of a figure(/s) who has(/have) affected the news and the lives of many people that year, for better or worse. Time magazine has been granting the Person of the Year title since 1928, however, it started out as Man of the Year and became gender-neutral in 1999.
Regardless of who the Person of the Year was, looking back can reveal a lot about the state of the world during that period. Discover who was awarded the title between 1950 and 2005 by clicking through this gallery!
